Mindanao State University – General Santos reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and participatory governance at the 2025 Open Government Partnership Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (OGP-APRM) held on February 5-7, 2025, at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Hanna-Tunisia Usman, Director for Planning; and Dr. Monsour Pelmin, Director of the Quality Assurance and Management Services Office (QUAMSO). Their participation underscored the vital role of academic institutions in governance reforms and knowledge-sharing.
Atty. Hanna-Tunisia Usman played an important role as both a participant and the host of “Finding Common Ground in Southeast Asia through the Open Government Partnership,” a side event held on February 5 at the UP Bonifacio Global City Auditorium. Organized by the Philippine OGP Non-Government Secretariat and the Caucus of Development Non-Government Organization Networks (CODE-NGO) Philippines, the session brought together experts and stakeholders to foster regional collaboration and explore strategies for advancing open governance initiatives.
Dr. Monsour Pelmin shared key takeaways from the conference, highlighting the insights gained from high-level discussions, particularly “The Power of Participation: Advancing the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda Through Open Governance.” The event also provided an opportunity to engage with key government officials, further strengthening the university’s advocacy for inclusive governance.
The success of OGP-APRM 2025 was made possible through the leadership of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), led by Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman. As the key organizing body of the Philippine’s hosting of the event, DBM played a vital role in facilitating discussions on open governance bringing together leaders and stakeholders from across the Asia and the Pacific.
MSU-Gensan’s active role in OGP-APRM 2025 reinforces its dedication to fostering open governance and driving meaningful reforms. Through its continued engagement, the university remains steadfast in championing initiatives that empower communities through education and civic participation.
