Application for Tara, BASA! Tutors and Youth Development Workers Extended Until March 14, 2025

Mindanao State University – General Santos City is pleased to announce that the application deadline for student Tutors and Youth Development Workers under the Tara, BASA! Tutoring Program has been extended until March 14, 2025!

This initiative, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region XII, offers a unique opportunity for students to serve in their communities, gain meaningful work experience, and earn through a cash-for-work program. By becoming part of this impactful literacy initiative, students can contribute to shaping a brighter future for young learners across the SOCSARGEN region.

The Tara, BASA! Tutoring Program is designed to provide literacy support to struggling readers in public elementary schools across South Cotabato, Sarangani, and General Santos City. Student-tutors from MSU-GenSan will assist these learners through community-based tutoring sessions, helping bridge reading gaps and improve foundational learning outcomes.

Aside from making a real difference in the lives of young readers, selected participants will also benefit from a structured work experience that strengthens their skills in teaching, communication, leadership, and community engagement—qualities that are highly valued in any future career.

This opportunity is especially ideal for students from the College of Education and related fields who are looking to apply what they’ve learned in a real-world, meaningful context. It is also open to other qualified students who are passionate about service and youth development.

MSU-GenSan encourages interested students to take advantage of the extended application period. Don’t miss this chance to grow, give back, and gain practical experience while earning through government support.

Let’s build a nation of readers—sa pagbasa may pag-asa, kaya Tara, BASA!

Apply now and be part of the change!
