On March 3, 2025, Mindanao State University – General Santos City marked the beginning of the month with a meaningful flag-raising ceremony that paid tribute to the achievements, contributions, and leadership of women across the university community in celebration of National Women’s Month.
Led by Chancellor Shidik Zed T. Abantas, the ceremony underscored the university’s ongoing commitment to recognizing and advancing gender equality, empowerment, and inclusivity. In his message, Chancellor Abantas emphasized the critical role that women play in shaping the university’s success across diverse fields—from teaching, research, and leadership to student life and community service.
“Today, we joyfully honor National Women’s Month by celebrating the achievements and contributions of women across various fields at our university,” Chancellor Abantas shared, acknowledging the indispensable role of female faculty, staff, and students in the university’s mission of excellence and service.
In addition to the Women’s Month celebration, Chancellor Abantas also took the opportunity to announce that the Medical Allowance has been credited to the respective accounts of eligible members of the university community. This benefit reflects MSU-GenSan’s ongoing efforts to support the health, well-being, and welfare of its faculty and staff, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to providing responsive and caring employee services.
Recognizing the start of the holy month of Ramadan, Chancellor Abantas extended warm greetings to Muslim members of the university community. “Greetings also to our Muslim brothers and sisters for a blessed Ramadan,” he added, honoring the diversity of faith and traditions that enrich campus life.
Through this simple yet meaningful ceremony, MSU-GenSan demonstrated its dedication to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for all its members.
