Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Department: Islamic Studies

The Department of Islamic Studies (AB Islamic History) of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mindanao State University-Gensan Campus, then under the defunct College of Arts and Sciences of the said university, was established in the year 1986. Although, it is situated outside of the BARMM core territories, the department of Islamic studies had produced hundreds of prominent and Islamic-oriented Bangsamoro professionals, academicians, scholars and Shari’ah lawyers with outstanding academic performance. To name but a few, we have Farida Nawa (graduated cum laude in 1990s), Macrina Morados (Magna Cum Laude), the present Dean of the Institute of Islamic Studies, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, Hasmin Abdullah (magna Cum Laude), Sahod Agil (Cum Laude), and Glysia Usop (Magna Cum Laude).
With the recent establishment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the contribution of the Department to the educational need of the BARMM constituents and Muslim communities outside its core territories is much needed than ever. The Bangsamoro Organic Law of the BARMM provided that the jurisdiction of Shari’ah law in the Philippines should be enhanced and that more Shari’ah court judges and workers will be recruited. Unfortunately, until today, the qualified Shari’ah lawyers are rarely to find. In order to help address this issue, the Mindanao State University Gensan Campus hereby proposes the adoption of MSU-KFCIAS program Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies, Major in Shari’ah. The offering of this program will complement the present Islamic history program of the Department that will provide more options to the students.
